INGREDIENT TRANSPARENCY

Silk Protein

Silk proteins serve to protect your skin barrier as well as deeply moisturize  the skin and assist in firming and hydration. Silk proteins are both extracted from silk glands or silkworm cocoons and have a chemical structure very similar to collagen found naturally in our skin; hence its ability to improve elasticity and skin cell regeneration. Fibroid is the protein inside of silk which boasts amino acids to help heal the skin further.

Avocado butter

Avocado butter is the base for our beloved body butters that impresses with unsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid, or Omega-9, known to stimulate wound healing and assist in healing eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. In addition to this, avocado butter is chock full of vitamins A, D, and E, all which help to moisturize with long lasting results. And, while it is not a replacement for sun protectant, avocado butter is known to protect against some harmful UV rays, making it a must-have for all seasons.

Frankincense

Frankincense is an aromatic gum resin derived from the Boswellia tree that thrives in hot climates. Frankincense has an impressive history, having been used by the ancient Egyptians in their religious rites, and even being offered as one of the three gifts to infant baby Jesus. It is a reputed anti-inflammatory, and is known to reduce the severity of coughs; making it a perfect ingredient to include in our migraine rollers and bath bombs for whenever you need some extra healing powers.

Camphor oil

Famous for its anti-inflammatory properties, camphor oil is an essential oil extracted from the wood of the camphor tree, or Cinnamomum Camphora, an evergreen native to Southeast Asia. When applied topically, camphor oil alleviates pain, irritation and even rashes. Camphor oil stimulates nerve endings, leading skin to feel a subtle numbing sensation which in turn works as a counter- irritant/ pain reliever. Camphor oil is also naturally antifungal and anti-bacterial and can be used to treat fungal infections. Camphor oil also works as a natural decongestant and can be diluted in hot water to serve as a steam treatment or be applied on the chest to open airways. NOTE:  It is not recommended to put camphor oil on broken wounds OR in and around the mouth as it can be toxic if ingested.

Capsicum

There is a plant genus known as Capsicum that chili peppers and bell peppers both belong to. The main active ingredient in hot chili peppers is capsaicin, known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Some examples of peppers that capsicum is derived from are cayenne, jalapeño, poblano, habanero, though capsicum is most often derived from red peppers, and is what we utilize as the base of our pain gel. The FDA has approved capsicum as an aid in nerve related pain from Herpes, while European drug oversight agencies have approved it for other nerve related pain conditions.

Turmeric

The main active ingredient in turmeric is a natural compound known as curcumin that helps to decrease inflammation and oxidation, allowing wounds to heal faster and skin to maintain its natural healthy radiance. It is known to bring out a natural glow and aid in hyperpigmentation. Turmeric contains natural antioxidants that are beneficial when ingested and applied topically. For many years Indians have used turmeric within Ayurvedic medicine practices, which involved plant based medicines known to be more suitable for humans from a biomedical perspective. It has been used to treat cancer, and other diseases as it has been found to be anti-viral, antiseptic, anti- inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and much more.

Olive oil

Olive oil has long been revered for its versatile uses, in particular for adding a robust, rich flavor to a variety of cuisine. Cleopatra was known for having a luxurious skin care routine that featured this liquid gold, using olive oil on her face and skin, in addition to her infamous milk baths. Due to its rich antioxidant content and Vitamin E, it has been known to reduce signs of aging skin. Olive oil contains the essential fatty acids needed for skin regeneration, making it a popular historic treatment for healing wounds and burns.

Abyssinian Oil

Abyssinian oil is the only natural oil with a chemical composition closest to the natural oils that are produced by the skin (human sebum). The oil impresses with incredibly high concentrations of Omega-9 and Omega-6 (over 60%). The fatty acids in this oil help to hydrate skin and hold anti aging benefits. The plant itself that this oil comes from notoriously requires small amounts of water in order to thrive.
